Remarks & More
Day of the Bread is a Snacker Tracker adventure themed around Halloween and Day of the Dead celebrations!
In a world where snacking is forbidden, follow Hunter as she chases a terrible criminal who dared bake a pie for the festivities.
Who did it? Why? And what’s up with the weird rules about food and ghosts in this world? Can you figure it out before her in this unique “puzzle story”? If you don’t, the Ministry of Snacking might come to town and shut the celebrations down—forever. But ghosts, witches, secrets, and death are everywhere …
What’s the Snacker Tracker universe of stories? Well,
- It’s a puzzle story. It’s a proper children’s novel. At the start, however, are 36 beautiful portraits of suspects. As you read, you get clues about the thief and can eliminate suspects, until by the end only one remains …
- It’s educational. A tense and fun story navigates the reader through the traditions and culture associated with these celebrations. The main character uses logic, math, and language clues to figure out who did it.
- Chapters are short and language is simple. You can read the book to your Apprentices, but it was written to suit the kids that start reading books entirely on their own (and older).
- Colorful and funny. The book has a beautiful design inspired by Day of the Dead. It’s full of color and illustrations. The story itself has color and humor too.
The puzzle is a so-called “elimination puzzle”. It’s one of the easiest to explain/play, so great for kids, but also very visual and interesting. You get portraits from the characters in the book, as well as some basic information like their name or hobbies. Clues can be a simple discovery like “their name contains an A” or something a bit harder to spot in later chapters …
